Two days ago, while shopping at Target with my wife and chasing my son between the aisles, a random thought entered my mind that all the sudden hit me like a thunderbolt. One of my favorite movies of all time is the Matrix, a futuristic movie that tells of a dystopian world where machines appropriate humanity and use us as sources of energy.
As much as I loved the first two installments of the Matrix, the last release left a bitter taste in my mouth. What disappointed me the most was the ending, I was able to deconstruct most of the movie and parallel it to what humans have become, but the denouement confounded me. Unable to grasp the meaning of Neo losing his eyes in order to defeat the Architect, I decided to pan the Matrix Revolutions.
Watching my son galivanting around Target in full glee and running up to random strangers to say hello with babbles—and my attempts to reign him in and apologize to people for his exuberance—was a watershed moment. I realized that I was trying to change him. Children come into this world free from preconceived notions and reservations only for parents to mold them so they can fit in. We code kid’s brains with “acceptable behaviors”; parents are the Architects who wire neo-borns to be a part of the Matrix.
For the most part, we do this for good reason; we have to protect children from their own proclivities. However, there is also a part of us that project our issues upon them; traumas we never addressed and issues we never dealt with get manifested outward as we try to protect them from bogeymen that only exist in our minds. What is the line, I ponder, between protecting children and smothering their creativity?
At least the education of our parents was with good intentions, there is another layer of habituation that takes place long after childhood passes that we are susceptible to at this present moment. I’m referring to the way society is engineered by wielders of information and those who control media to shape public perception and dictate humanity’s direction at their whim. In this sense, the Matrix is not so much a machine but medium that indoctrinates us to act against our own interests.
Napoleon Bonaparte, one of the most ruthless and feared imperialists in the history of humanity, once said, “four hostile newspapers are more to be feared than a thousand bayonets”. Napoleon knew the awesome power of the press and menace of those who employ media. Our minds are malleable, we are easily swayed by overt propaganda and manipulated even more so by hidden messages. In the age of information, media empires like CNN, BBC and New York Times and social media corporations like Google, Facebook and Twitter have powers of Zeus and command humanity as they wish.
The dangers of these powers, unchecked by any government and unknown by most of us, is breathtaking and hard to fathom. When the U-2 spy plane was first being built, literally thousands of people—engineers, designers, technicians, mechanics and a litany of blue collar and white-collar Lockheed employees—worked around the clock to build a cutting edge jet that could give the United States a qualitative edge over the USSR. Out of the thousands of workers and people involved in this enterprise, only a handful of people actually knew what the end-product was going to be.
How is that possible? How is it that brilliant engineers with doctorates and crafty mechanics could be so in the dark about what they were working on even though they had a hand in the plane’s construction? It’s called compartmentalization. This is how governments are able to keep secrets and all kinds of injustices take place without the public ever knowing about it. Exposing an iota of this deception is why Julian Assange has been savaged for doing the job that mainstream media journalists refused a long time ago.
If you are focused in on a tree, you will always miss the forest. That is the same way compartmentalization works; millions of people with clearances are given access to just a tiny bit of information, the higher up the clearance, the view is widened from a part of a pixel to a small dot. Out of millions in government, only a few know a sliver of the picture. How many people are really in the know about the real happenings of the world is something I’ve always pondered, I’ve always had an image of 13 people sitting at a table but that is just conjecture on my part. Only God knows when it comes to the affairs of Luciferin societies.
As goes governments, so goes humanity writ large. Nearly eight billion people are completely in the dark when it comes to the truth of this world. Even heads of states are but pawns on a chess board controlled by invisible hands who have weaponized their fortunes in order to mandate policy and sanction governance. Every year, leaders from around the globe head to Bilderberg meetings and Davos conferences and are given marching orders to implement economic agendas in their homelands. This would sound like a wild-eyed conspiracy theory if they were not so blatant in advertising these sessions.
While we are peddled the snake oil of a “representative democracy”, the truth is that governments are not responsive to us at all. Russians did not hijack our democracy, it was commandeered by the oligarchy a long time ago. In a world where cash is king, debt is deity—the god they are trusting on the back of the dollar is not the one Judeo-Christians pray to. The idea that nations have sovereignty is laughable; Central Banks like the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank usurped power and snagged countries one by one using their web of currencies. We are the United Assets of Americorp.
Did you know that the Federal Reserve is not part of the government at all? JP Morgan crashed the US economy in 1907 with rumors of a banking run only to bail out America. Talk about audacity, one man “saving” an entire nation. The price for his “kindness” was the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913—that is when the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution was set on fire by the greed and cunning of one billionaire. The Federal Reserve is literally a banking cabal where the largest multinational banks dictate America’s, and by extension the world’s, economic policies. Using inflationary policies, unelected banking technocrats have sole authority—without any input from elected officials—over our nation’s and the global economy.
The fact that this outrageous abrogation of the United States Constitution and the rule of law does not inspire pitchforks and a reprisal of the Revolutionary War is a prime example of the power of media and the astounding ability for a few to have dominion over billions. If you imprison a man with brute force, he will fight you to the death, but if you give that man false choices of freedom, he will vote for his own subjugation. We are a society of false choosers that willingly puts on the chains of politics and reveres the shackles of “free press”.
To conceal these truths, the supposed “free-press” and social media titans have colluded to willfully engage in a most galling form of censorship. While the former disparages anyone who deviates from the accepted political and social orthodoxy as threats to democracy and impugn anyone who dares to question media narratives as foreign agents, the latter utilize algorithms and newsfeed suppression to severely diminish the reach of independent journalists. We live in a time that Orwell could have never imagined if he was tripping off shrooms and LSD combined.
So go back to the scenario I outlined initially with respect to the U-2 plane. With a pandemic that is ravaging the world, wars popping up left and right and the global economy acting every part a pyramid scheme where wealth is transferred from billions right into the bank vaults of billionaires, we seem to be approaching the age of Armageddon. This is why the public discourse has become so toxic and why tribalism has increased in scope and depth. We know there is something wrong, but we don’t know what it is; so we lash out in despair and get more and more depressed out of hopelessness.
Just like the U-2 laborers had no idea what they were working on, what if humanity likewise was walking in the dark right on the path of an upcoming cliff? The media we depend on for “fact checking” has been compromised, too busy chasing profits and retweets, the idea of investigative reporting is as comical as Trump winning a Mr. Congeniality award. Politicians won’t push back even if they know, they learned the lessons of speaking out of turn when JFK and RFK met their gruesome fate because they diverted from “acceptable norms”.
I write this for the active reader and the silent observers alike, the time for being quiet and following orders must come to and end. I know in every organization, from government agencies to newsrooms to Wall Street firms and beyond, there are decent people who go to work each day trying to do good and take care of their families. I know from personal experience, it was a cop who literally saved my life in 2015. However, too many are afraid to speak out when they see wrongs being committed. A few rotten apples end up smearing the reputations of many and tarnish the good names of virtuous professionals because we fear judgment for speaking up and dread retribution for saying stop.
Anti-Social Media?@Facebook: give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together@google: do no evil@Twitter: give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly without barriers

I have no idea what will come next, 2020 has been one for the ages. However, something tells me this year was not the climax but preview of coming subtractions. Here is what I know to be true, billionaires do two things: maximize profits and mitigate risks. What they fear more than anything is the second coming of the French Revolution and the onslaught they would face if the world economy crumbled to the point of irreparable damage. Terrified of literally becoming basket cases, they have been plotting all along to come up with a way to mitigate the risk of a mass-uprising.
What if the carbon footprint they keep talking about eliminating is us?
This is where I return to the Matrix and the sheer genius of Neo losing his eyesight in order to defeat the Architect. This world is full of lies and we consume most of these deceptions through our eyes. We see and we believe without questioning. If humanity has any chance to bend the arc of history towards justice and save ourselves from coming fires, it will be when we stop looking externally for guidance and listen inward to the voice that tells us right from wrong. Only when we free our souls from the divisions that have been coded into us and act with the innocence of children do we have a chance at restoring hope for us and future generations.
The Matrix is generations of conditioning that has been passed down to us and imposed upon us since we were children that taught us to disregard that which does not look, think or talk like us. The Matrix is divisions that were sown and separate us from each other. The Matrix are identity politics that teach us to be indifferent to the plight of “others” and ideologies that abort ideas. The Matrix is in our minds; we have to go inward to free our minds and we can only do that if we see with our hearts instead of seeing with our eyes. #MatrixRevelation Click To Tweet
I always wondered how tens of millions of Germans sat on their hands and let a madman lead them into the fires of Hades without resisting his depravity. Now I understand; it was not just Nazi officers who were following orders, so were most Germans. We should not judge too harsh, we too remain silent in the face of evils as genocides are committed in Iraq and gross human rights abuses are purveyed in Guantanamo bay. Almost every nation is complicit in this continued bleeding of humanity. War is not patriotism, it is an economy. Up until this point, our silence only impacted the nations we kept cratering with bombs and bullets. The chickens might soon be coming home to roost and our continued silence could lead to our final dissolution.
Let me end this with an explicit challenge to workers around the world, from low level employees to mid-level managers all the way to corporate officers, look into your hearts and ask yourselves if you really are at peace doing what you are doing. “Just following orders” might help you go to sleep at night for a while but how long will you disregard your conscience knowing that you are taking part in campaigns that take innocent lives, restrict our God given freedoms of expression and engage in insidious schemes to turn neighbors against neighbors.
What you allow, and in some cases empower, to take place impact real life people. We are not abstractions, we are human beings who are fathers, mothers, sons and daughters. Moreover, as is done to others shall surely come back to you for an injustice committed against one eventually envelops all. I’ll leave you with this, what is done in the dark shall be revealed in the light, all will be revealed in time::
“And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for. thee that one of thy members should perish, and. not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.”
I usually put a contribution button at the bottom of my articles, the Ghion Journal does not take corporate money and we don’t raise money through sponsorships, we are empowered solely by the kindness and support of our readers. However, today, I am going to ask you to donate your money to someone who hit me up on Twitter and let me know about a GoFundMe for someone near my neighborhood who is homeless. I know the pains of being dispossessed and alone, so I ask you to give as you are given. Let us help the least among us for one day we can join them, I know, I lived among the broken myself not too long ago. Click HERE or on the picture below to be redirected to Emma’s GoFundMe which is being organized on her behalf by Charles Johnson. Let us be angels to one another.
