So long to the fight against neo-colonialism and standing up to the West! In a blink of an eye, the field Marshall Abiy Ahmed—who bravely rode out to the front lines to “personally lead the charge against extremists”—quickly morphed into a field mouse the minute Jeffrey Feltman touched down in Addis Abeba. We barely had a chance to get acquainted with Menelik 2.0 before Abiy returned to his TPLF roots.
None of this is surprising; I’ve been writing for close to a year that Abiy is a false prophet who glommed on to Ethiopia’s profound history of anti-colonialism and hummed sweet tunes of unity as a means to an end. His hidden motive all along was to weaken Tigrayans, depress Amharas after inflating their egos and radicalize Oromos. Abiy needed to eradicate his rivals and place his loyalists in positions of power before he reveals his full strongman profile to Ethiopians he lulled into compliance and complacency with his vacuous “medemer” rhetoric.
Yesterday’s developments have to be seen through this prism; after spending a year utilizing the full force and might of the government to put Ethiopians on a war footing to take on TPLF terrorists, his sudden lurch towards “reconciliation” was nothing short of malpractice. Reconciliation is not possible while the other side is still fighting an active war; imagine America releasing Osama bin Laden during the “War on Terror” had they captured him alive as his Al Qaeda compatriots were lobbing missiles at Houston and Atlanta.
Yet that is precisely what Abiy did yesterday by releasing high level TPLF architects of terror and going one step further by releasing Jawar Mohammed, a OLF radical who once called for Oromos to bludgeon Amharas with machetes. Far from a light at the end of the tunnel after a year of vicious fighting that the TPLF initiated by killing hundreds of Ethiopian military personnel while they were asleep in their barracks, Abiy just plunged the whole country into the darkness of perpetual war in which there are no decisive winners except Western interests that want to see Ethiopia disintegrate from within.
I have to give it to Abiy, he is a brilliant actor in ways that exceeds the thespian skills of Barack Obama. He knew that the key to his personal victory was to gain the unflinching trust of Amharas who have been singled out for vicious persecution for 27 years by TPLF. Like a televangelist who targets the poor and oppressed to sell them false hopes, Abiy sold Amharas a false dream of Ethiopia returning to her past glory if they only trust him to become the next “conquering Lion of Judah”. All his allusions to Adwa, pan-Africanism and the greatness of leaders like Menelik and Etege Taitu was a way to lure Amharas into his camp.
In order to perpetuate this grand deception upon Amharas, he needed a bogeyman. He didn’t have to go far to find them, Abiy looked up north as he gave the cold shoulder to Tigrayans the minute he gained power. At the same time he was embracing Amharas, he was giving a subtle stiff-arm to Tigrayans as he flew right over their heads in order to “make peace” with Eritrea. It’s evident now that the whole normalization gambit with Eritrea was not authentic, he was preparing all along for conflict in order to make TPLF fight a two-front war. TPLF gladly helped Abiy out and sacrificed tens of thousands of their people because nothing makes people depend on ethnocentric radicals like the specter of bloodshed.
So here we are fourteen months after TPLF fired the first shots on November 4th, 2020, with at least 100,000 Ethiopians dead and the only thing we have to show for it is the release of the very terrorists who began the carnage. The only way any of Abiy’s delusional moves make sense is when you realize that he a perfectly lucid tyrant in the making who was working for the very neo-colonialists he pretended to be against. This is why his nod to pan-Africanism was so mischievous; as he was working to dismantle Ethiopia, he was feigning to be the second coming of Atse Tewodros.
All it took for Abiy to reveal his face was a flight to Bole International Airport from a low level State Department technocrat and the would-be king of Ethiopia morphed into the pawn of his Western puppet masters. Yesterday’s craven act had nothing to do with reconciliation, it was capitulation at its apex. As Ethiopia takes another step towards becoming Hotel Rwanda, the Ethiopian government and their enablers like Hermela Aregawi and Neamin Zeleke are busy making it seem like Abiy has a plan, sounding every bit the part of Qanon adherents who used to swear that Trump was playing three-dimensional chess and to believe in “the plan”.
Ethnic federalism, which is nothing more than tribalism run amok, is the death of a society. #NoMore Self-colonization #Ethiopia. We must rise above hate in order to free ourselves from mental slavery. #WarNoMore Click To TweetWhat occurred yesterday should serve as a wake up call to everyone who signed on to the fraudulent #NoMore movement. The whole thing was a sham being perpetuated by the Ethiopian and Eritrean governments to point fingers externally in order to shield themselves from accountability. The same way Republicans scare their base by pointing to Mexicans or use “black” people as bogeymen and the way Democrats latch on to “white supremacy” trope to condition their loyalists to do the same, Abiy used American interventionism as a means of pacifying deserved criticism for three years of leadership that failed in every turn except phot ops.
Ethiopia has now entered into a very dangerous phase, one where Abiy has intentionally painted himself into a corner. Now that he has opened the door to “reconciliation” before TPLF put down their guns, he gave them the initiative to attack without fear of consequences. Every action that the Ethiopian National Defense Force takes to protect and preserve the territorial integrity of the country will be presented to the world by the duplicitous Western press as Abiy going back on his word.
The calls for intervention are already rising after today’s military action in Tigray, the doors have now been opened by Abiy for America to either directly or indirectly start bombing Ethiopia in the name of humanitarian intervention. Abiy did the job he was chosen, he led Ethiopia down a path of war without any plans on achieving victory or an exit plan to speak of. All this chaos could have been avoided had he initiated a limited and surgical campaign against TPLF, one that ensured the safety of Tigrayans and assured them that his actions were intended on protecting them.
Tragically, Abiy decided to pursue a course of collective punishment and radicalized the whole of Tigray in the process. What should have been a law enforcement campaign has now become an interminable gorilla war, one that could last years if not decades. We have a limited time to understand what is taking place and swiftly turn away from both Abiy Ahmed and TPLF because both are being propped up by the West in order to destroy Ethiopia from within. Ironic, I talked about this exact issue five days ago on an interview with Sabby Sabs five days ago only for the things I discussed to become reality in less than a week.
What we are witnessing in Ethiopia is a plan that is decades in the making, one that dates back to at least the 1930s after the Italians failed to subdue us yet again. European imperialists realized that they could not defeat Ethiopians on the battlefield so they decided to do so through diplomacy and by turning our leaders against us. Abiy is not a hero to be celebrated, he is a Western asset who is being empowered to Balkanize Ethiopia.
If we do not stop feeding into the divisive rhetoric that is being channeled into our minds by ethnocentric chauvinists, we will witness on our watch the death of Ethiopia and the revival of Zemene Mesafint on steroids. To this end, there is an emergency meeting at Monarch Restaurant at 6669 Monarch Restaurant in Annandale, Virginia this Thursday, January 13th, to discuss a way forward for all Ethiopians. Please RSVP by clicking here to ensure entry, space is limited.
Now is the time, more than ever, that demands unity not as a slogan but as a moral compass for all of us. Though the invisible hands of the very globalist aristocrats who are bleeding the world and the visible claws of their hired guns are lined up to attack Ethiopia, in the end we have a true and living God on our side who has never abandoned us. The darkest moments are but wombs that deliver the sun of God, I have faith His light will shine upon Ethiopia before by the time 2015 on the Ethiopian calendar arrives. እግዚአብሔር ከኢትዮጵያ ጋር ሆኖ ከሁላችን ይጠብቀን።
